Forest Composition
The Solomon Islands has a land area of 2.8 million hectares, of which 89.94% is covered by natural forests and forest plantations. The second major land use is cropland, which covers 7.94% of the land area. Wetlands cover 0.96% and Grassland cover 0.25%, while other land covers 0.21% of the land area which includes bare soil and rock. Settlements, which include urban, villages, hamlets, and infrastructure cover 0.70% of the total land area.
